ANSI Approves Risk Analysis Standard for Higher Ed Hazards

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved A Risk Analysis Standard for Natural and Man-Made Hazards to Higher Education Institutions.  This standard was developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Innovative Technologies Institute (ASME-ITI), which convened a standards committee to codify their RAMCAP methodology into an American National Standard.  The resulting standard provides a consistent and technically sound approach to identify, analyze, and communicate risks on college and university campuses, as well as a forum to exchange best practices for safety and security among participating institutions.

The Standard is scheduled to be published later this month (July 2010).
